Paul DeMuro is Of Counsel in the Fort Lauderdale office of Broad and Cassel. Previously a partner at several prominent law firms, including Latham & Watkins, Paul has worked on physician hospital integration projects for over 30 years. Driving his practice is Paul's passion for the cost-effective delivery of quality health care. He has practiced extensively in the area of corporate transactions, accountable care organizations, clinical integration, healthcare antitrust associated with innovative structures and ventures, value-based purchasing, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate organization, governance, finance, healthcare district law and regulatory compliance. He has also handled matters in the areas of Medicare reimbursement, fraud and abuse, compliance and managed care.

Paul has authored or co-authored over 150 publications and has delivered over 400 presentations throughout the world. He has also delivered more than 350 presentations on a national and regional basis over the last few years.

Paul is a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants, the American Medical Informatics Association (where he Chairs the Finance Committee), the Medical Group Management Association (where he is both Certified and a Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives), the Healthcare Financial Management Association (where he is a Fellow and a former member of the National Board and its Executive Committee and Past President of the Northern California Chapter), the Healthcare Compliance Association (where he is Certified in Healthcare Compliance), the American College of Healthcare Executives,
and the American Health Lawyers Association (where he is both a Fellow and a former Vice Chair of the ACO Task Force), the American Bar Association (where he is a Fellow of the Foundation, and former Chair of both the Health Law Section and the Joint Committee on Employee Benefits).

He holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Maryland, is a Certified Public Accountant, with an MBA (Finance) from the Haas School of Business of the University of California, Berkeley. He holds a juris doctor from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Master and PhD in Biomedical Informatics from the Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine, where he was a National Library of Medicine post-doctoral fellow.

Transition from fee-for-service medicine to payment for quality and cost-effectiveness
Dr. DeMuro has worked in the area of managed care since 1982 and has extensive experience assisting clients
in payment models which incentivize providers to provide quality services in a cost-effective manner. His
academic and research background in this area along with his work in data analytics makes him uniquely
qualified to address these issues, whether they be governmental or commercial, or a model designed by the
parties, e.g. hospital, physicians and health plans for their particular situation and market position.

Clinically Integrated Networks/ACOs
Dr. DeMuro has been involved with the design and implementation of clinically integrated networks (CIN)
since the mid-1980s, having worked with numerous hospitals, Independent Practice Associations, physicians,
and health plans in creating win-win arrangements throughout the United States. He is able to meld all different
types of physicians into a CIN whether they are employed by a hospital, or in a large or small independent
group practice. He has served as a Vice-Chair of the American Health Lawyers Association ACO Task Force.

Data Analytics
Dr. DeMuro works with healthcare entities in the areas of data analytics, big data, informatics, genomics,
precision and personal medicine. These areas are particularly important in the evolving healthcare models and
as a PhD in Biomedical Infomatics, Dr. DeMuro is well suited to walking entities through these concepts and
putting them in the perspective needed today to prepare entities and individuals for the dynamic shifts in the

mHealth, Social Media, and Telemedicine
Dr. DeMuro has presented around the world on the importance of mHealth, Social Media, and Telemedicine in
delivering health care. These advancements in health care present in different ways in various countries, but
most of the concepts are similar and we can learn from the experience of others. Having recently presented in
Sao Paulo, Malaga, and Copenhagen on such topics, he has a most interesting perspective in this very dynamic

Dr. DeMuro has worked in the area of corporate governance for over 30 years. He has facilitated corporate
retreats, advised board members and C-suite professionals about overall governance issues, issues in the context
of emerging healthcare systems, aligning hospital, physician and health plan interests, and positioning boards
for the future. His multidisciplinary background, CPA, MBA, attorney and biomedical informatics professional
assists him in developing numerous permutations to help guide boards.

Population Health
With an academic background in Biomedical Informatics, including Consumer Health Informatics, Public
Health Informatics, and legal and financial expertise in designing and implementing clinically integrated
networks for over 30 years in the managed care arena, Dr. DeMuro has unique expertise in population health.
