Joe is the author of twelve books on personal and business success including All Hands on Deck: 8 Essential Lessons for Building a Culture of Ownership, The Healing Tree, and The Florence Prescription: From Accountability to Ownership. With nearly half a million copies in circulation, The Florence Prescription has helped hundreds of healthcare organizations more effectively design and build a culture of ownership and foster a “proceed until apprehended” spirit of self empowerment. His book Designing the Invisible: Designing and Building a Culture of Ownership (with Bob Dent) was published by Sigma Theta Tau International in April, 2017.
Prior to founding Values Coach in 1994, Joe was chief operating officer of a large community teaching hospital. He was founding president of the Association of Air Medical Services and a leading activist fighting against unethical tobacco industry marketing practices.
Joe earned a master’s degree in hospital and health administration from The University of Iowa and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he served as class co-president. He is a dynamic, passionate and entertaining speaker with a powerful message. His presentations are packed with unique insights and practical ideas, richly illustrated by real-world examples, and spiced with humor and stories.
